Unlike other Texas counties, Wharton County was not named after one significant person only. This county got its name from the Wharton brothers, John and William, who were the leaders that made a great effort to triumph over the sovereignty of Texas. Another interesting fact is about the number of court divisions this county has. Wharton County has ten court divisions big enough to archive old and new court records.
